
Dr Emma Hayhurst
Dr Emma Hayhurst is a microbiologist, co-founder and Executive Chair of Llusern Scientific.
She is the author of several microbiology publications and has been central to Llusern’s mission to develop accessible diagnostics that support better treatment decisions and help address antimicrobial resistance.
In 2016, Emma and Dr Jeroen Nieuwland received a Discovery Award from the Longitude Prize and Nesta to develop an affordable diagnostic tool to combat antibiotic resistance. This support helped lead to the development of Llusern’s UTI test panel and Lodestar DX platform.
Emma is also known for her advocacy around healthcare equality and gender balance in STEM businesses. In 2022, she received Innovate UK’s Women in Innovation Award.
